2012 Tum Pai Ohana Luau
The 2012 Kajukenbo Tum Pai Ohana Family Luau was held Saturday, August 18 in Longview, WA, USA. It was a full day of events starting with the Black Belt Meeting at noon. Many people reconnected with friends “from the old days.” Grand Master Bob Heuer and GM Jerry Weldon presided. There were also many Honored Guests: Senior Grand Master Al Dela Cruz, SGM Al Dacascos, SGM Gabe Vargas, GM Rich Mainenti.
The Workshops were filled with stories from the early Kajukenbo days. GMs Dela Cruz, Dacascos, Heuer and Weldon shared strategies, tactics and training drills of their expression of Kajukenbo.
The evening Luau had excellent food and outstanding entertainment. Thank you to all the talented people that performed authentic Hawaiian dances and songs, and exciting Martial Arts Demonstrations. Vickie, Ross, Carley, Rhondi, Haley, Joel, Nicole and the demo team from Premiere Martial Arts – you all rocked!
Special thanks go to everyone that helped to make this event possible. Especially Prof. Steve Larson, Sifu Jim Sanborn, Sifu Greg Salata and Amy Morrison. There were many other people that helped with setup, parking, registration, teaching the kids workshops (Timmy and Jimmy) and cleanup. Thanks for graciously volunteering to help.
Remember, the Kajukenbo Tum Pai Association is dedicated to help unite the practitioners and promote the Martial Art of Kajukenbo Tum Pai. All proceeds from the Tum Pai Ohana Luau are used to fund future Tum Pai events and activities.
It was a good day for our Ohana (family).
